Controversy is something hip hop star Lupe Fiasco has never shied away from.

Whether it be sparring with Bill O'Reily on his show or ripping Glen Beck at the BET Awards, the rapper has never had a problem expressing himself through song or words.

That's why when word of the artist coming to perform at the Fox Theatre in Oakland Tuesday night spread, some of the people involved with Occupy Oakland took to Twitter to ask the Chicago-based rapper to lend his support.

The 29-year-old rapper, named Wasalu Muhammad Jaco, made an appearance in front of Oakland City Hall shortly before his show to lend his support to the protesters.
